The Russian Satellite News Agency quoted New Delhi TV on October 15 as saying that the Delhi Metropolitan Government of India will implement an "emergency action plan" from October 15 to cope with the increasing air pollution.
Experts believe that the sharp increase in smog and air pollution in the Delhi area is related to the burning of crops in rural areas of Haryana and Punjab. At this time, farmers will burn the mulch after harvesting the crops. The representative of the agricultural sector disagreed with this and believed that the root of the problem lies in the human factor.
According to reports from New Delhi TV, the Delhi government intends to temporarily ban burning of garbage, limit the work of diesel generators, increase the use of parking spaces, and improve the efficiency of public transportation. If air quality continues to decline, other measures may be taken, including mechanized cleaning and road sprinkling, bans on truck traffic, and suspension of all construction work in the area.
At present, urban residents and tourists in the area have not received special warnings about the sharp increase in air pollution.
