The Aral Sea is a saltwater lake in Central Asia. It is located between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. It was infused by the Syr Darya and the Amu Darya. It was once the fourth largest inland lake in the world and was once one of the most abundant aquatic resources on the planet. . However, since the 1950s and 1960s, large-scale water diversion irrigation along the two rivers has led to a continuous decline in the amount of water flowing into the Aral Sea. At present, the Aral Sea has shrunk into the "Big Aral Sea" and the "Small Aral Sea". To this end, in 1993, the five Central Asian countries established the International Foundation for the Salvation of the Aral Sea.
