Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan discussed environmental protection and water quality protection in the Sil River Basin

According to the website of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan on October 2nd, the first meeting of the Haru Environmental Protection and Silur River Water Quality Protection Joint Working Group (Committee) was held in Tashkent from September 27th to 28th.

The meeting discussed national ecological management, environmental monitoring and monitoring of the Syr Darya River across the border. For Uzbekistan, this is the first time it has established a bilateral working mechanism on water quality issues. According to the agreement between the two parties, the responsibilities of the working group mainly include: conducting comparative analysis of monitoring methods in the two countries, formulating plans for joint monitoring of surface water quality, proposing to carry out environmental monitoring capacity building, conducting systematic monitoring of water quality and exchanging information, and exchanging environmental protection Laws and regulations and technical documents in the field, formulate joint measures for pollution prevention and control of transboundary rivers, and establish an early warning mechanism for river pollution.
