Meeting of the Intergovernmental Ecological Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States

According to Tajikistan “Hova” National News Agency, on October 10th, the fourth meeting of the Intergovernmental Ecological Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held in Dushanbe.

Participants discussed the cooperation issues in the field of environmental protection in the CIS countries, exchanged experience in policy formulation in the fields of biodiversity, atmosphere and geological protection, discussed the formulation of environmental damage compensation methods, and formulated the next annual work plan of the committee.

The main duties of the committee are: to promote the implementation of cooperation resolutions in relevant fields of the CIS countries, to coordinate policies in the field of environmental protection, to propose recommendations for balancing environmental standards in various countries, and to promote the development of common environmental protection and natural resource utilization methods.
