Desulfurization, Denitration and Dust Removal Synergestic Control Project of Flue Gas from Coke Oven of Hanbao Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. of Handan Iron and Steel Group in Hebei Province, China

No. 232 Fuxing Road, Fuxing District, Handan City, Hebei Province.

Hanbao Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. of Handan Iron and Steel Group.

(3) Capacity:

4 sets of 4×42-coking chamber 7 m top-loading coke ovens with an annual coke output of 2.06 million tons.

(4) Date of operation:

December 2017.

(5) Investment, construction and operation:

It was invested by the Owner, and Sinosteel Tiancheng Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. was the EPC contractor and operator.

2. Major environmental problems to be addressed

Emission control of SO2, NOx and particulate matter in flue gas from the coke oven to achieve ultra-low emission of flue gas from coke oven.

3. Environmental standards and/or main index limits to be followed

In the flue gas, SO2 emission shall be30 mg/m3, NOx emission shall be130 mg/m3, and particulate matter emission shall be10 mg/m3.

4. Technological process

Flue gas from coke oven→ SDA semi-dry desulfurization → BF dust removal → SCR low and medium temperature denitration → emission from the chimney.

5. Environmental pollution control effects

In the flue gas, SO2 concentration was 200~800 mg/m3, NOx concentration was 400~1,000 mg/m3. After treatment, SO2 emission concentration was 10.29 mg/m3, NOx emission concentration was 27.53 mg/m3 and particulate matter emission concentration was 3.35 mg/m3.

6. Investment and operation cost

The project investment was RMB 76.09 million and the operation cost was about RMB 12/t·coke.

Case highlights: The temperature of coke oven flue gas was relatively low, with efficient denitration as the technical bottleneck. The SDA semi-dry desulfurization + BF dust removal + SCR medium and low temperature denitration process was adopted to address coke oven flue gas pollutant control and realize ultra-low emission of flue gas from the coke oven after treatment.
