It was invested, built and operated by HUANENG Power Int'l Inc., and Wuhan Kaidi Electric Power Environmental Co., Ltd. was the EPC contractor of ultra-low emission renovation of the desulfurization tower.
2. Major environmental problems to be addressed
Ultra-low emissions of SO2 and particulate matter from the high-sulfur coal (with 1.5-2.4% sulfur content) were achieved.
3. Environmental standards and/or main index limits to be followed
According to the ultra-low emission limit of the coal-fired power plant, the particulate matter emission concentration shall be≤5 mg/m3, and SO2 emission concentration shall be≤35 mg/m³.
4. Technological process
The absorption tower reconstruction plan uses 1 tray layer + 4 spray layers + 1 film liquid holdup layer. The flue gas enters from the middle and lower parts of the absorption tower, passes through the tray layer and four spray layers, then enters the film liquid holdup layer. And the flue gas at the outlet of the film liquid holdup layer enters the horizontally-arranged flue demister for demisting and then flows to the chimney.
5. Environmental pollution control effects
When SO2 concentration reached 6,000 mg/m3 and particulate matter concentration was
30 mg/m3 at the inlet of the desulfurization device, SO2 concentration was≤20 mg/m3 and particulate matter concentration was ≤3 mg/m3 at the outlet.
6. Investment and operation cost
The investment in project renovation was about RMB 53.3 million, and the operation cost was about RMB 0.002/kWh.
Case highlights: The staged composite absorption tower taking “tray + spray layer + film liquid holdup layer" as the core for deep desulfurization and efficient synergestic dust removal has realized ultra-low emissions of SO2 and particulate matter in flue gas from the power plant burning high-sulfur coal (with 1.5-2.4% sulfur content).
