1. Profile
(1) Project site:
DOLVI, Maharashtra, India.
(2) Owner:
JSW Steel Ltd.
(3) Capacity:
Flue gas cleaning project of 3,000 KTA coking plant.
(4) Date of operation:
June 2018.
(5) Investment, construction and operation:
It was invested, built and operated by the Owner, and ACRE Coking & Refractory (Dalian) Engineering Consulting Corporation was responsible for design, supply and expert services.
2. Major environmental problems to be addressed
Emission control of particulate matter, SO2, NOx and other pollutants in flue gas from the coke oven.
3. Technological process
The in-vehicle dust removal device of the coke oven, combined with the dust removal ground station, controls the visible dust emissions of the coke oven. It adopts 6.25 m stamp-charging coke oven technology to control NOx emissions of the coke oven. The coke wet quenching adopts the top-mounting smoke trapping device to reduce the pollutant emissions, and the dry quenching technology is used to eliminate the pollutant emissions in the coke quenching process.
4. Environmental standards and/or main index limits to be followed
The dust shall be visible for 16s during coal loading, particulate matter emissions from coke pushing≤5g/t·coke, particulate matter emissions from the chimney≤25mg/m3, SO2 emission concentration≤800mg/m3, NOx emission concentration≤500mg/m3, dust emissions of quenching tower<50g/t·coke.
5. Environmental pollution control effects
Meeting local standards for pollutant emissions.
6. Social benefits
It helped the Owner to meet environmental protection and emission standards, increased coke production capacity, thus increasing steel production capacity and provided jobs to local people.
7. Economic benefits
It helped the owners to improve steel production capacity and created economic benefits. Meanwhile, it used coke oven waste heat to generate electricity and reasonably utilized industrial energy resources to produce great economic benefits.
Project significance: The project helped the Owner to improve steel production capacity, while ensuring that the emissions of pollutants in flue gas met local standards and reached the world-class level. The successful implementation of the project established a good image of Chinese enterprises in India.
