2. Major environmental problems to be addressed

Treatment of oily condensate and recycling of reclaimed water.

3. Environmental standards and/or main index limits to be followed

According to the Water Quality for Industrial Boilers (GB 1576-2008), for the effluent, pH 8.8~9.3, turbidity≤2 NTU, hardness≤0.03 mmol/L, conducticvity≤0.2 μs/cm, TOC≤0.2 mg/L, silicon dioxide≤0.015 mg/L, SS≤1 mg/L.

4. Technological process

Condensate influent within the battery limit→ plate heat exchanger → intermediate tank of condensate→ low-pressure condensate pump → activated carbon filtration + mixed bed filtration → purified water tank of condensate→ reclaimed water pump → water point.

5. Environmental pollution control effects

For the influent, pH8~9, conductivity 5-10 μs/cm, total hardness 0.8-2.0 mg/L, chloride ion 1~4 mg/L, total alkalinity 2-5 mg/L, SS30 mg/L, COD60 mg/L, petroleum pollutant 5 mg/L; for the quality of produced water after treatment, pH 8.8~9.2, conducticvity≤0.2 μs/cm, silicon dioxide≤0.01 mg/L and SS≤0.5 mg/L.

6. Social benefits

The project contributed to local water pollution control. The project provided jobs to local people and trained a number of technical and engineering personnel for the local community.

7. Economic benefits

After the project was put into operation, the oily condensate was treated and reused as boiler make-up water, saving fresh water consumption and bringing direct economic benefits to the Owner.

Project significance: The project brought green, environmental and sustainable concepts and technologies to Pakistan, and played a major role in promoting the local environmental protection capability.
