2. Major environmental problems to be addressed

Desalination of sea water or treatment of surface water for boiler make-up water in power plants so as to save local fresh water resources.

3. Environmental standards and/or main index limits to be followed

Index of system water production: conductivity (25)≤0.15 μs/cm, silicon dioxide≤10 mg/L.

4. Technological process

Ultrafiltration + two-stage reverse osmosis + mixed bed (ion exchange).

5. Environmental pollution control effects

The water source of the project is the surface water from the upper reaches of La Bang Dam, and the main water quality indicators of the influent are: turbidity 10NTU, DS1485mg/L, CODMn5.8mg/L, activated silica 20.2mg/L; indicators of water produced by the system: conductivity (25)≤0.15μs/cm, silicon dioxide≤10 mg/L.

6. Social benefits

The implementation of the project improved the regional water environment quality and provided jobs for local residents.

7. Economic benefits

The implementation of the project could save about 13300 t/d of fresh water.

Project significance: The project can save fresh water resources and relieve fresh water shortage of the region.
